It’s time to reflect a little on the journey. I wasn’t even sure there would be a blog #1. What do people write about? Who would want to read these things? How long would this writing thing last?

Nine years later, I’m still at it, and I always wonder who reads these things. Thanks, if you are one of my subscribers, or occasional readers.

Currently, I have over 40 draft blogs, each of them wondering if they will ever get a “published” or end up in the dust bin. Ideas come and go; some turn into worthy blogs, others do not improve with time. I wish they were all great pieces of writing, but that’s not reality. I wrote a blog on change after reading half a dozen books on the subject, thinking I had captured some interesting ideas and expert advice. Adding more ideas did not add either quality or interest, in fact, it became preachy and boring. A subject can be overwritten and underdeveloped. One’s very firm grasp of an idea can strangle the life from it. Lesson learned.

My partner frequently asks me what I’m doing as I type away on my phone, one eye on the TV screen and the other on my iPhone screen. Multitasking, I say. The fact is, I write all the time, often a few minutes here, a few minutes there. I write when a title, line of prose, source idea, or witty comment pops into my noggin. I tune in, tune out, and am always on standby. I can be infuriating to live with. I vow to be more present. Then something profound rolls around in my head and I can’t help myself.

As Adrian Monk might say, “writing can be both a blessing and a curse.”

Thanks for checking out my blog site.
