The world of language is fascinating to me. The interesting thing about language is that it constantly evolves. New words join, others simply fade away from use.
Never is such a hard word. An absolute. Let me rephrase, it’s unlikely that I will have reason to use the following 10 words – but who knows.
Idiosyncratic – unique to an individual. I can think of many words, some even printable I might use instead.
Doomscrolling – is consuming a lot of really bad online in one session. Certainly not without a cocktail or two.
Contumacious – stubborn or willfully disobedient. Sounds like something done in the bedroom.
Athleisure – a term for athletic clothing that is also quite fashionable. The word is dumb, but I like the concept.
Munificent – overly generous for the situation. That word not likely to be used to describe me.
Quotidian – a daily habit or occurrence. Why not just say daily? No need to be snooty.
Lugubrious – sad or sorrowful.
Hootenanny – only if my last name was Clampett.
Obdurate – refusing to change one’s opinion. Sounds like a fighting word.
Deipnosophist – a person good at table talk. Not me. I’m challenged to display good table manners.
Bonus word:
Floccinaucinihilipilification – the habit of assuming something is worthless.
