Ten Billion Butterfly Sneezes

Lighter than the summer air

Gliding atop that bright flower

A flash of rainbow colors

Secretly holding nature’s power

An army of a single wanderer

A Skipper’s life is quite brief

Long enough to procreate

Spreading eggs across a leaf

An erratic flickering swarm

A sea of multi-colored wings

Sailing on their own breeze

A gathering of small kings

The sweetness of the flowers

Tickling the tiniest nose

A sneeze of mighty roar

Like mighty falling dominoes

Together, tens of billions

Enough to lay down trees

The butterflies have spoken

With one collective sneeze
