Time That Slipped Away

I failed to hear the hours tick away

Every moment melted into the next

And I stand aground another day

Searching for clues I feel so vexed

Swinging and untethered in the wind

Directionless bounced by the gale

Fragmented messages to comprehend

Eye to eye with a bemused whale

The sea always knows the way

Bet on her whatever the odds

It may roar but flows like a ballet

She’s a whirlwind, sent by the gods

A life follows an indirect quest

Until now, the path just more paces

With every stride, warm blessed

Her hands tying together the traces
