I did not realize, time I had never taken
Generous amount of sand atop the glass
Each grain falling, forming a small mountain
Piling higher reminding me of the impasse
The voice inside swatted all of the arguments
It’s not worth it, won’t work, you’ll be disappointed
The rut is worn deep from steps never walked
Your defense is lacking, the evidence all disjointed
Time melts, minutes dripping through my fingers
Like a molasses river of sand
Unused memories collecting around my feet
What was, is gone, now of the land
