My life has very little religiosity
But my soul is rich with curiosity
Although I believe in humanity
The daily news tests my sanity
The world is wildly pain afflicted
Sadly, most of it is self-inflicted
In darkness we search for the right
Treading water adrift in moonlight
Safety we want, order we need
Clutching faith we won’t concede
Swimming in search of compass north
Picking words to fuel our journey forth
Meaning we draw to fit our intention
Sword in hand, ready for intervention
Kindness has a value not on the Dow
As neighbors we reap what we plow
When the sabbath turns a new day
My conviction will not fade away
