Summer Sunset

The color is diffuse, so is my mood

June held promise, golden at dusk

Savored every bite, like picnic food

Worked the muscles, giving off musk

The day melts away, sprinklers hissing

Morning breeze, before searing heat

On my face, the sun’s constant kissing

Glistening pool, a refreshing retreat

Evening sounds, bares the children in us all

Shoeless wading in the cool streams

School bells ring, the calendar says fall

A time to reap treasure from our dreams
