The sky is crying, but not over me
For emphasis, a clash of thunder
The steamy air buzzes with electricity
Pulling up the covers, me going down under
—
Jumping from puddle to puddle
Hand in hand, we splash
Later our bodies become one
The sun vanishes in a flash
—
When the heavens show anger
Is this storm directed at me?
This tiny human stands naked
Delivering my plea
—
I’m not afraid, just humbled
A seedling sailing the wind
Encircled by water droplets
Racing to the rainbow’s end
—
Brooding, minacious thunderheads
Rain, rain, wash over me
Dissolving this outer shell
Expose what I used to be
—
Like the drizzle, you’ve gone
Withdrawing back into the gray
No more pings on my window
The Earth calls it a day
—
Nature’s display coulda been a dream
More fool me again
Rain owes me nothing
Not even what the blue skies win
